Retinal detachment and Floaters
Most retinal detachments are a result of a retinal break, hole or tear which may be caused by degeneration or injury.
High myopia (greater than 6 diopters of nearsightedness) increases the risk of retinal detachment. Patients may experience flashing lights and floaters or even vision loss when suffering from retinal detachment. Therefore anyone who is beginning to experience these symptoms should seek a dilated retinal examination immediately.
